Russia Day in Nakhabino

On June 12, 2007 GlavUpDK Affiliate Le Meridien Moscow Country Club hosted a festive event dedicated to Russia Day. A colorful and manifold show with Russian flavor was staged for Nakhabino’s numerous guests: Russian officials, heads of diplomatic missions, people of business, science and art.

The official part of the event took place in the newly built Club House officially launched a month ago. Guests were offered a brief tour of the new Club House showing a special interest in the Puppet Town exhibition by artist Galina Maslennikova and the Chudo Grad (the Russian for ‘Miracle Town’) showcasing Russian folk crafts. After Mr Ivan I. Sergeyev, GlavUpDK Director General, welcomed those present, Bolshoi, Mariinsky and Stanislavsky Musical Theater soloists performed some Russian and international classics.

The lakeside entertainment area then came into focus where a Town of Craftsmen opened its doors to chiming bells and songs of Romen Gypsy Theater actors. Seated in an improvised fair square, Russian craftsmen – smiths and potters – showed their skills and encouraged everyone willing to join them in continuing the tradition of ancient crafts. The playground was filled with joyful noises and cheers. It was there that participants could test their strength and dexterity in typical Russian fun contests.

Two brilliant Russian teams, the Osipov National academic Folk Instruments Orchestra and the Voronezh Girls Russian song ensemble, continued the music show with People’s Artist of Russia Olga Yankovskaya making a presentation of her new song called “Russia”. The dance floor moved to Russian and foreign tunes by 26 Herz music band.

A fiery show thrown by Theater X wrapped up the event.
